What is acupuncture and how does it work?

Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles into the skin. The science behind acupuncture combines traditional Chinese medicine theories and contemporary Western medicine research. Chinese medicine refers to meridians in the body, which are pathways of energy. According to Chinese theory, dysfunction in these meridians causes illness. Acupuncture works to balance the meridians and support the body’s natural energy stores. In Western terms, acupuncture meridians correlate to nerve, muscle, and blood vessel pathways. By affecting these pathways through needle insertion, acupuncture stimulates healing and offers pain relief.

Testimonials

“Imagine having so much consistent foot pain that it hurts with each step; walking on bare feet for even a short time leaves them throbbing; you need to wear shoe orthotics and expensive support footwear constantly to be able to walk, all while your feet are numb and cold. Add to that: strong indigestion; extreme stress from family illnesses and a complicated house move; strong hot flashes/overheated body; irregular sleeping; cramping legs and total exhaustion. That was my status when I had my first acupuncture appointment with Candace Gardner. I had been treated by other acupuncturists during the previous year. Candace was leaps and bounds ahead of all the others on many levels: She exudes extreme competence. She’s the perfect mix of being very approachable and friendly while staying professional. I immediately felt very comfortable explaining my needs to her and she had knowledgeable, helpful responses. She quickly executes the treatments with precision and confidence. All the while being so kind and interested and optimistic. These things are nice, but realistically, it’s the end result that is the most important. I’m happy to say that she gets excellent results on top of her other great qualities! After I left that first day, I immediately felt more energetic. All the above symptoms were better throughout the week. But the most remarkable part is that by the time I got home and my husband asked how my feet felt, I realized that there was NO pain! That was the first time in 10 years that I could say that. No other treatments have been as effective as those done by Candace! Before meeting Candace, the other treatments I received did not give me the good results on a consistent basis like my appointments with her do. Obviously I can’t speak highly enough about Candace Gardner and I’m sure she will excel in her future. She’s a rare gem that I’m honored to have met!”

“Candace (Whole Point Acupuncture LLC) really helped me with several medical concerns via her acupuncture. She was able to help me with insomnia, diet, acute musculoskeletal issues, excessive sweating, anxiety and concentration. These are issues that I had previously been seeing other physicians for and had not made progress. The relief that I experienced when I was finally able to make progress in these areas was awe inspiring. Thanks to the positive experience that I had with Candace, I decided to go ahead and pursue Traditional Chinese Medicine so that I can help others, as she helped me.”
