Our Approach: Therapeutic Massage

Hot Stone Massage

Hot stone massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated stones to release muscle tension. Basalt, a black volcanic rock is often used because of its ability to absorb and retain heat.

How does it work?

The massage therapist sanitizes and heats the stones in a steam or water bath before you arrive. During the massage, the therapist uses traditional strokes of Swedish massage while holding a heated stone. As the stone cools, it is replaced with another hot stone. Heated stones may also be left in specific points along your spine, in the palms of your hand, or even between your toes to improve the flow of energy throughout your body. Cold stones are often used to reduce inflammation or aid in the healing of a muscle injury.
